How to Start a Kids Scooter Club in Your Local Community

How to Start a Kids Scooter Club in Your Local Community

Community is built around a shared love for something, anything really. If your child loves playing outdoors and riding their scooter, gather some friends who do as well!

Step 1: Find a Meetup Spot

  • Parks are fun, wallet-friendly places to meet and ride, especially with so many new parks featuring traffic gardens or paved routes. Check out past blog posts on our favorite scootering parks in Orange County, San Diego, Las VegasAustin, and Los Angeles.
  • 1040 Coffee in Buena Park is a unique location that offers a closed off lot for kids to ride around safely. The 1040 Scooter Club gathers weekly for rides, crafts, and play time, while parents and caregivers enjoy lattes and treats. We hope to see more local establishments offer a safe, welcoming area for kids to gather and ride scooters or balance bikes.

Step 2: Equip the Scooter Club

  • Ensure all riders have scooters and helmets.
  • Budget friendly option– Facebook Marketplace is a great resource for finding deals on secondhand scooters.
  • For new scooters, check your neighborhood toy stores, which usually stock scooters for younger children. Independent toy stores are community treasures and are just fun to visit in general. Bonus if you find what you're looking for and get to support your local community at the same time!
  • If you're interested in SVOLTA scooters, check out our guide to finding the most appropriate model for your child. Online orders are always welcome, but feel free to check out our local stockists to purchase scooters in-person.

Step 3: Prep Activities and Snacks

  • Pack a picnic for lunch or an afternoon snack.
  • As parents, we don't always have time to stop off at a coffee shop before heading to a park. We've recently discovered this barista-quality, freeze-dried coffee from Cozy Indigo Coffee. If you're on-the-go and have 8 oz of water with you (room temp is fine), just mix in one of these capsules, shake and enjoy! Here's the gift set we have available on our site, but feel free to check out Cozy Indigo Coffee for more options and to purchase directly from this small business.

Svolta Yeti Bunny Coffee and Mug Holiday Gift Set

  • Blowing bubbles in the park is an instant crowd pleaser with toddlers and little ones.
  • Print scooter-themed coloring pages and bring crayons for a calming art time activity. Free printable coloring pages below.

Step 4: Scooter Squad Customs

If the kids get really into the scooter club and want to sport their own scooter squad merch, our SVOLTA design team would be happy to customize a shirt just for them. Here's a mock-up of a custom t-shirt in Cappuccino. These t-shirts are 96% cotton, 4% elastane, available in Toddler/Kids sizes 2T-7 and Youth 8-20, and cost $30 each. Send us a message with your request here. We'd love to design something special just for your crew!

We also offer customization on our 2-wheel Legend scooters. Examples below.
